In chapter 10 and 11, Randy talked to Ponyboy about Bob sheldon. In chapter he realized what ponyboy had done in the burning church, he said he didnt want to fight. Why did he do this and what impact does this have on the way ponyboy thinks about other Socs?

This wasn't in chapter 10 or 11 it was in chapter 7. Randy did this because he began to see, like Ponyboy, the “tough guy” trap that all the Greasers and Socs were falling into. After Bob died for no good reason, he saw that the grudge between the Socs and Greasers was useless and stupid. He noticed that the only direction that the gangs could get him was down. This impacted Ponyboy by validating what Cherry said about Socs. She said that all Socs weren’t jerks and Bob was actually a nice person when he was sober. This gave Ponyboy the realization that some Socs were actually similar to him.
